NAIS Challenge 20/20*

Students from two schools in two countries
join hands to solve a global problem.

Students from St. Francis Episcopal Day School in Houston, Texas, have partnered with students from St. John's Episcopal School in Puerto Cortés, Honduras, to come up with a plan to help solve the global environmental problem of marine pollution. Research is being conducted on Galveston Bay in Texas and the Bay of Cortés in Honduras. Both these unique marine ecosystems suffer from industrial pollution, harming their economies and hampering their recreation. Working together, students hope to come up with solutions while forming a lasting relationship between two different cultures.

Our web site will explore the research methods conducted by both schools, the data collected from that research, the communication between the students of both schools, the solutions to the challenge, and how money was raised to fund those solutions.

Please view our Podcast and PowerPoint presentations for in-depth observations and solutions to our common challenge.

*Sponsored by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Challenge 20/20 gives students in both public and private schools the chance to develop global relationships. Children gain leadership skills in international relations along with first-hand knowledge of cultural differences.
